Frank Allis/Nuestro Mundo Students visit the Dean House

On Friday Sept. 16th two classes of 2nd graders visited the Dean House as part of their unit on Madison history. Dorothy Haines and Gloria Simley set up the washtubs and ironing board in the kitchen & pantry to show the children how these chores were done in the "olden days". They also enjoyed seeing the "ice and food" in the ice box, looking through the stereopticon viewer, and pumping water. Learning about the chamber pots in the bedrooms was also a big hit.

Civil War Exhibit

We would like to feature the Civil War in the display case on the second floor of the Dean House. We are expecially interested in the men who served from the township of Blooming Grove and those that are buried in the Blooming Grove Cemetery: Edward Miller Liefield, George Nichols, Henry Wildhagen and Thomas Quilty. If you can loan us Civil War artifacts or share information about local soldiers we would appreciate it. Contact Ann Waidelich, 249-7920
