Mission Statement
The Historic Blooming Grove Historical Society preserves and advances the culture and history of Blooming Grove, Monona and Southeastern Madison--all of which was, historically, in the Township of Blooming Grove. The Victorian furnished Dean House is a living testimony to the pioneer spirit fostering our American heritage and contributing to our growth as a community and serves as a center for events and local history study. For general inquiries and donations to the Society's collections contact Robert A. Bean at 608 222-5783 or email ram2bean@charter.net
Funding
The Historic Blooming Grove Historical Society is funded by memberships, contributions and grants. There is no fee for any of the society's public events, but donations are always welcome.
Join in the discussion of the creation and history of the Monona Golf Course on Sunday June 7th 2-4 pm at the Dean House. Several "old-timer"s have been invited to share their memories of working/playing on the course. The current golf pro wants to learn more about the history of the course. Bring your memories and photos to share with the group.
Computer Up-Grade
Bill Brendler has been helping HBGHS upgrade its computer system so that we now have wireless broadband internet access and an email address: hbghs@tds.net. Thanks Bill and Thank You Bob Essock for your generous donation to support internet access.

Spring is here and we are busy at the HBGHS and the Dean House. We are always busy throughout the year, maintaining the Dean House, giving tours, updating our historical files, attending meetings—the list goes on. But, with Spring there are new and exciting things happening. The Back Porch Concerts will begin June 25th. Several people have asked me if we have the schedule set—the answer is YES. A large project is set for May 15 and 16. We are having a Garage/Yard Sale at the Dean House, and we want YOU to be a part of it. Please donate your items and stop by to purchase other items. We have several projects we would like to pursue, but we need funds to do them. This is one way you can help. Please check out the articles in this issue of the COURIER for details. And, don’t forget our Annual Meeting on May 3rd. I hope to see you at one of our Dean House functions, be it concerts, tours, open houses, discussions, or Monday mornings to volunteer. If you have any questions pertaining to anything in the COURIER or if you have any questions about the historical society, please contact me 222-3859 or virglosimley@charter.net
